Interdependence pact for companies
Any employee, in any field, depends on the employer but I am firmly convinced that there is interdependence, starting from the lowest to the highest level.
RitaOwners, managers and associates are interdependent. Their mutual relations are the same as relations people have with trees. Trees release oxygen, which is vital for us, and people produce carbon dioxide, which is useful for trees. Both trees and people exist as a result of this symbiotic relationship.
All corporate levels exist through interdependent work.
In light of this, Adriano Olivetti’s extraordinary proposal for the wages of executives regains relevance in today’s scene. He stated that there should at most be a ten-fold difference between the highest salary and the lowest one.
This indicates his highly advanced concept of the actual value of individuals and of investing in a company. It gives an idea of the importance of each role within the corporate organization.
Olivetti’s approach and its macro effect lead to the physiological creation of a corporation for individuals by acknowledging each worker’s dignity because every one of them is important, regardless of their level. His solution rewards employees who accept the responsibilities associated with decision-making with a higher salary, and safeguards future generations. Adriano Olivetti was also aware of the fact that executives would not exist without interdependent workers. Today his solution could induce transformation as it is charged with positive potential. This means rethinking corporate roles and organization to ensure a better future, creating once again, remembering a culture of ethics, appropriateness, respect and importance of the other and, finally, of Interdependence. It means that we should all feel engaged, side by side, in constructing the foundations of our kids’ future.
When a small percentage of the population holds disproportionate amounts of wealth, the system will not stand firmly for future generations.
RitaExtreme wealth does not defines a winner, it merely signifies being rich. People are inclined to confuse the two concepts nowadays. There are neither winners nor losers in life, just people who are attempting to walk the path of their existence to the best of their capabilities.
Companies, which are social structures per se, can be a powerful driving force to improve the social system. It is about time to create a new consciousness inside companies, one that favors the human community and does not exploit people in the lowest rungs of the social ladder. It is time we renounced greed and started feeling part of a tribe, that of mankind, aware that we hurt ourselves when we hurt somebody or something.
Those who have the honor of being wealthy, also through the work of interdependent workers, are responsible for financing culture, a new consciousness and an informed vision of the future. A new culture also includes the ecological and social frameworks. Another goal is to replace ignorance with tolerance to achieve peaceful coexistence. The current situation, which limits the chance of a future career for younger generations, must be reversed. This means implementing interdependence inside companies and talking about happiness at work, mutual respect and the importance of the Home we are renting – the Earth. We need to be aware of the fact that we belong to a Whole One. We are parts of a large natural cycle, and we are called to do our utmost for the greater good and to protect this reality for future generations too. I hereby stress that we are born naked and we leave naked. Why leave so many ecological and human disasters behind us?
The world of work is part of the Whole One, which is to say it is part of interdependence, too.
RitaI support the need to provide corporate training for all roles in order to change the rules that bring results for companies. The development of a new culture can do a lot in this regard. Why should we not provide individual counseling and coaching paths to give people a voice and contribute to the creation of a transformational force in the company, starting from the top and listening in an authentic way? Why not create opportunities for people with different roles to meet in order to share needs and experiences, and thus cooperate in closing the gap between the company and the people who underpin its success? Let’s start by defining the wages of interdependent workers, based on their roles. Such an action would guarantee the company’s equity and mutual respect for all individuals concerned. This corporate change can lead to several improvements. The occupational framework is also part of the Whole One, that is to say of Interdependence. Relationships between colleagues may gain a new balance, enriched by human values, thus restoring the deepest meaning of this aspect of life, namely work, by creating a more balanced social fabric.
What makes men happy is liking what they have to. This is a principle on which society is not founded.
